Life in Australia

A short update on life: Brisbane, Farm Work & Life

Hi! I’m just going to write a short update on things. Our roomie is already sleeping (she gets up at 6 am) and V is more or less dying of boredom (we are sharing my laptop until I can fix his). The hostel that we are currently staying in doesn’t have any individual lights, so it’s all about compromising.

We went to Brisbane for a few hours yesterday and the city was a lot quieter than we had expected. It was Saturday evening and the streets was completely empty, but I’ll write a separate post on that later. We need to check out of this hostel on Tuesday, so we have decided to stay in Brisbane for 3 nights. I rather see as much as possible since I have no idea when we’ll pass the area again.

I had also managed to get us a pretty good job offer at a farm, but we sadly had to turn it down in the end. It was so hard to actually say the works ”no thanks”, so I had to ask V. to press the ”send”-button on my phone. What if we can’t find any other decent jobs that counts against our second year visa? I’m sure that we will, but a small part of me wanted to say yes. The problem is that it was just too far away and we would have to spend over $500 to get there without any guarantees that we could stay the full 3 months. It was the right thing to turn it down, but it still feels a little scary.
