Swede Expat blog

Hi and welcome to my blog! I’m a Swede and a 20-something chronic expat that is currently living in Brisbane, Australia.

The short story is that I grew up in a small town in Sweden, got bored of my current life and booked a one way ticket to London in 2009. It was not always easy, but I quickly fell in love with the city and a true blooded Brit. London kept us busy for years, but it was eventually time for new adventures.

We stuffed our essentials into a backpack each and set out for Australia in July 2014. The decision to leave was something that had slowly evolved over time and you can read here about our decision to move from London. Neither of us had never been in Australia before and we had no idea if it was going to be the right place for us, but we were going to try and see what would happen. All we knew was that we wanted to give it a chance and we could always come back to Europe if it weren’t right for us. Europe is just two flights from Australia, so we had nothing to lose by trying.

We’re still not sure if we want to stay in Australia or eventually go back to Europe, but we’re both loving the experience. We are seeing and doing things that we would never have done otherwise. Our Australia chapter will always be a very memorable chapter of our life, no matter what happens in the future.

My blog is a mix life as an expat, culture shocks, Australia, travelling, photography and both the wonders & struggles of life. My aim is to show you how it really is (the good and the bad), inspire others to step out of their comfort zone and to document my own experiences since I’ve a terrible memory.
