Hi friends, just a quick post while I’m waiting for the Brit so we can head out for dinner. At least it’s not always he that has to wait for me, which I’ll make sure to remind him of when the next time that he needs to wait for me. 🙂
Anyhow, I went to a doctor yesterday (and today) since I’m still having a few problems with one of my toes. I accidently smashed it into the bed frame about 4 months ago and I still can’t put too much pressure on it. Nor can I move it in the same way as my other toes, so it’s defiantly something going on.
I was pleasantly surprised how fast and easy everything was this time. It can always be a little confusing when you’re in a new country and are unsure about how it all works. I was really struggling to find a bulk-billing clinic last time that I needed one. A bulk-billing clinic is basically directly billing the government instead of the patient, which means that it’s 100% free and doesn’t require any insurance hassle from my part. A private clinic on the other hand means more money, so it’s a lot more private clinics around.
My last visit (6 months ago) was a complete waste of time and the doctor were only there so he could pick up a regular paycheck by the end of the month. He didn’t care the slightest about his job and I left the appointment feeling really frustrated.
I think it goes without saying that I’ll picked another clinic this time. The difference between the two clinics were like night and day. I booked my appointment online for the following day, turned up and immediately got a referral for an X-ray without any issues. The nearest x-ray machine was a 5 minute walk away, so I went there without an appointment and walked out less than 15mins later with my scans. Everything went so fast and easy! The X-ray didn’t show anything, so it’s most likely the ligaments that have taken a real hit. But it’s nice knowing that not all bulk-billing clinics here is as bad as the first one.
