Phew, I’ve finally booked all of our flights back to Europe! We’re moving back to London after 1.5years in Australia and will stop by a few places on the our way back to Europe. It’s going to be 3 weeks of travelling in 3 different continents and boarding 7 separate flights with a combined flight distance of 19,000km! Exciting!
I’ve just prepared a post about how travelling can be done a lot cheaper than what most people think and are using our upcoming trip as an example. Our 7 flights, flying almost halfway around the world, will cost us 985 Australian Dollars (710 US$) each. The best part is that you easily do the same route for almost the same price! It might even be slightly cheaper if you’re lucky with the dates. The only flight that was on a promotion, was our Melbourne to Phuket flight.
So how did we manage to fly halfway around the world for 980aud (710 US$)? It took me over 5 hours of research to figure everything out, but this is how we managed to get cheap flight ticket halfway around the world;
Brisbane –> Sydney for 105aud (75 US$)
Airline: Tiger Airways
Sydney –> Melbourne for 140aud (100 US$)
Airline: Jetstar
Melbourne –> Phuket for 275aud (200 US$)
Airline: Jetstar
(We’re taking a local ferry between Phuket, The Phi Phi Islands and Krabi.)
Krabi –> Bangkok for £55aud (40 US$)
Airline: AirAsia
Bangkok –> Stockholm (Sweden) for 370aud (270 US $)
Airline: Norwegian Airline
Stockholm –> London for 85aud (60 US$)
Airline: Ryanair
That’s how we are doing it! All prices are per person and are including a 20 kg checked-in bag. It would have been significantly cheaper to travel with only a carry-on bag, but we obviously have a few possessions after 1.5 years in Australia. In fact, 150 out of the 980aud is simply various add-ons for checked-in luggage. That’s about 105 US$ out of 710 on only luggage fees.
You can also get a cheap RETURN ticket between Australia and Europe for just $850 (£550).
