Moving Abroad

Why I have left the UK for Sweden

Moving from LondonWell, I need to be honest about something. I have decided to name my blog  ”aSwedeAbroad.com” , but that’s actually a little bit of a lie. I’m currently a Swede in.. Sweden. I just moved here from spending the last 4.5 years in London and I will continue my expat adventures in July. So, I’m sort of a Swede Abroad that is just temporarily in Sweden.

I didn’t plan to move back to Sweden. London was my home and had a long bucket list of things that I wanted to do and experience in my favorite city. I was not ready to leave it all behind, but it all happened so fast (like life has a tendency to do).

I’m not going to bore you with an extremely long (and boring) story, but the short version is that I needed to move back to finish my studies. I’ve been studying online for the past few years, but had to complete my last course IRL. So I did what any sensible person would have done- I cried, packed my things, said my goodbyes and got on a one way flight to Sweden a few weeks later.

I’m currently sitting in my old bed at my parents place. It feels a little odd to be back and I can’t shake off the feeling that Sweden just isn’t the right place for me. It’s a pretty great country, but it just doesn’t fit me right now. It’s OK though, it will be nice to hang out with my friends and family before me and my bf will move to Australia in July.
